Ferrari 333 SP

Ferrari 333 SP Gianpiero Moretti’s involvement in the creation of the Ferrari 333 SP was profoundly significant—he was one of the key figures behind Ferrari’s return to top-level sports car racing.
During his time racing alongside Gaston Andrey in the Alba AR GTP—powered by Ferrari racing engines developed through the collaboration of Carlo Facetti and Gaston Andrey’s IMSA racing efforts—Moretti gained firsthand experience with Ferrari-powered prototypes in endurance competition.
It was during this period that Moretti’s passion for seeing Ferrari return to high-level sports car racing intensified. Recognizing both the opportunity and the demand, Gaston Andrey proposed structuring a program similar to the historic N.A.R.T. (North American Racing Team) model of the 1950s through the late 1970s—where private entrants, supported by Ferrari, could successfully campaign competitive race cars at the highest level. Gianpiero Moretti played a pivotal role in Ferrari’s return to prototype racing in the early 1990s. At a time when Ferrari had little interest in re-entering the category, Moretti was instrumental in changing that direction.
