Fredy Lienhard and the Ferrari 333 SP
Fredy Lienhard, a prominent Ferrari collector from Switzerland, maintained a close relationship with Gaston Andrey.
Beyond his passion for automobiles, Lienhard was the founder of Lista International, whose innovative workshop and storage systems became widely adopted by Ferrari and numerous Formula 1 teams.
Upon learning of Ferrari’s 333 SP program, Lienhard immediately recognized its significance and became one of the earliest individuals to acquire the car. His early commitment underscored both his enthusiasm for Ferrari’s return to prototype racing and his confidence in the program’s potential.
Gaston Andrey played a key role in this chapter as well, becoming the first Ferrari dealer to prepare and support a 333 SP for competition in the IMSA racing series in the United States. This positioned Andrey at the forefront of introducing Ferrari’s new prototype to American endurance racing.
Lienhard would go on to own multiple 333 SP chassis and actively participate in their racing development and campaigning. Notably, he also collaborated with Gianpiero Moretti, combining efforts in the field to campaign the 333 SP—further reinforcing the network of passionate privateers and collectors who were instrumental in the car’s success.
